May 2025
This month on the farm we planted and planted and planted and we are still planting! We are happily starting to prepare outdoor garden beds, plan for our farm stand, fill our freezers with meat, and make sure the farmers market truck can still turn on after it's long winter slumber.
Our first farmers market is Saturday May 17th in Cumberland. Find all the information for our market season here!
This month's blog focuses on a unanticipated feeling of anxiety now that spring has finally arrived.

Person, Plant, Place
Each month we highlight an incredible person, plant, and place! Keep reading to learn about this month's selection.
Frances is our person of the month! She lives in San Fransisco and is the creative force behind our logo! She is not only a fantastic graphic designer but also an all around awesome human being. She not only brought our logo vision to life but she is also an athlete, a life long learner and a Paella lover. We are so lucky we got to work with her and hope she can make it East sometime soon to visit! If you need anything graphically designed, she is the woman for the job!

Peonies are our plant of the month! Looking like little lobster claws these plants are one of the first bursts of color we had here on the farm. Peonies are an all around amazing plant. Not only do they look great in a bouquet but they also have lots of medicinal uses and can even be made into a delicious jelly or syrup. Here at the farm we like to add them into salad! Let us know if you have made jelly with them, we would love to know how it turned out.
Wild Seed Project is our place of the month! Through programs and publications the Wild Seed Project supports the growth and restoration of wild plants and places. Their vision "is that people create and repopulate landscapes to be abundant with native plants that safeguard wildlife habitat, support biodiversity, and mitigate the effects of climate change." We are excited about everything they are up to! Check out their website and programming here:
Know Thy Shelf Book Club
It finally feels warm enough to read outside and boy have we been taking advantage of that! This month we dove into pages with familiar characters, moving narratives and soothing advice. And of course what month of reading is complete without an incredible Octavia Butler novel.
Upcoming Events
Thank you all for an amazing first community farm day!! We had so much fun planting, eating and celebrating Beltaine with you all. Some of our favorite moments include speed weeding the upper greenhouse, watching the cows sprint towards our offering of freshly scythed grass, wassailing in our new serviceberry bushes and trading marshmallow roasting techniques. Our next community farm day is June 15th, we hope to see you all there!
Project of the Month
Seedlings are still our focus this month! We are already seeing the results of our early planting. We were able to harvest these Easter Egg Radishes (pictured above) this past week! By the end of the month we hope to have all of the seedlings happily planted. We cannot wait to be eating farm fresh fruits and veggies all spring and summer long!
If you want to enjoy any of these farm fresh products please reach out to Molly. Stay tuned for our in person and online farm stand!
